Ship’s supply for the future – The HMS Group pools together The Hamburg based HMS-Group pools together as from 1st January 2010. In Europe it will trade under the name of HMS HANSEATIC MARINE SERVICES GmbH & Co. KG, based in Hamburg/Kiel and in Far East under the name of HMS Far East Pte Ltd based in Singapore. The group consisted up to now from eight single companies which now united are engaged in services and supply of ships in the international shipping trade. It employs 300 staff members in Hamburg, Kiel, Rotterdam/Antwerp and Singapore.
The HMS-Group had been acquired as per 1st October 2008 by ZERSSEN & CITTI Ship Service GmbH & Co. which today is a part of the HMS-Group. Both companies are merged as from 1st January 2010 to the new HMS-Group. The group is backed by two strong owner-operated shareholders – the traditionally in shipping engaged Zerssen GmbH & Co. KG and the German CITTI-Group with about 5.500 employees. CITTI is the German wholesale-marked leader in supplying the professional gastronomy with food, beverages and non-food items. Therefore, the new HMS-Group now has full access to the whole range of products, the impressive purchasing power and the professional logistics of the CITTI -Group. Synergies and advantages resulting from this will improve the performance of the new HMS Group and will considerably benefit the business partners.
Procurement and store-organisation of the Hamburg warehouse already is established state-of-the-art. Procurement has been integrated in the merchandise management system of the CITTI Group and therefore has access to more than 30.000 products in the stores. The picking of products is done digitally via screen at the fork-lift. In Singapore the warehouse capacity will be enlarged considerably - especially the cooling areas - and the warehouse by the lock Kiel-Holtenau at Kiel-Canal will be enlarged and thoroughly modernised still this year.
HMS shareholders intend to create in all relevant regions a new, always consistent cutting edge service quality, which covers all assortments and services under the aspect of standardised, reliable and competitive criteria. Thus the clients can fully use their time to concentrate themselves on those factors which are substantial for the improvement of their own business.
The group’s companies look back on a long tradition that counts more than 160 years of experience in general ship supplies, spare parts and catering services. The services today are supply with food and beverages, technical products of all kind from pencil to tools, hotel equipment and consumables, environmental protection as wastewater cleaning facilities, coating and corrosion products, ship repairs and related services and the worldwide delivery of spare parts. Furthermore full worldwide sea catering services are provided to ship owners and ship management companies.
